Toms River to Prohibit Parking on Colfax Street

Toms River–A council ordinance was voted on Wednesday to prohibit parking on Colfax Street in the township.   Business Administrator Paul Shives said that the request came from the Toms River Police Department traffic safety bureau.

Shives confirmed that a traffic study had been completed by the police department.

Councilman Mo Hill rejected criticism about the road being  used as a “speedway” and “shortcut”  between Main Street and Highland Parkway.

“I’m going to be guided by the police department and traffic safety, I’m a dentist, not a police officer,” Hill said.

Despite getting a 4-0 vote, the matter will be carried over to the next council meeting since a quorum of 5 was needed  to pass the measure.
