TOMS RIVER–Toms River police responded at 1130 a.m. on Monday to Briar Knolls community on Route #166 after a 25 year old Manchester Township woman reported she was threatened by a subject with a gun.
An investigation found that the female came to the man’s home to collect $1,700 she loaned him a week ago. The man, Jesse Smith, 29, grabbed the victim and brought her into his apartment then threatened her with a handgun. The victim who was not injured, was able to flee the apartment and contact police.
Officers recovered a .22 caliber automatic handgun and two magazines containing hollow point ammunition. Mr. Smith was charged with simple assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of a weapon by a felon.
Mr. Smith is being held in Ocean County Jail on $200,000 bail no 10%. Investigating wee officers Robert O’Neill, Jenifer Grob, Mark DeGrandis, Kevin OMelia and Detectives Randy Petrick and Mark Bajada.
