Dowd Cup Hockey: Brick Defeats Toms River North 4-3

RED BANK–With just under a minute left to play in regulation, with the score tied 3-3, Brick’s Justin Stritch scored the game winning goal, his second of the game against North goalie Julian Coto.
After a scoreless first period, Brick was the first to get on the scoreboard in the second when Ryan Mooney scored, assisted by Tyler Iannarone and Andrew Reiss, just two minutes after faceoff.
North quickly responded as Zach Freed set up a goal by John Maikish, tying the game 1-1.
The back and forth continued a minute later as Andrew Reiss of Brick scored, assisted by Nick Auriemma. Brick took the lead midway through the second period when Justin Strich put his first puck in the net on the night.
Facing a 3-1 deficit, Mariner Ian Turner’s shot on goal went past Coto. At the end of two, the score was Brick 3 Toms River North 2.
Late in the third period, Turner scored again, tying the game, but with 58 seconds left to play, Stritch scored his second of the game to advance Brick to the second round of the Dowd Cup.
