SEASIDE HEIGHTS–On Friday, Sidd & Associates, of Millstone Township drove in the first piles to kick off the reconstruction of the Seaside Heights boardwalk.   The boardwalk is the lifeline of the tourism economy for the entire Toms River area and one of the top summer tourism destinations in New Jersey.

Throughout the construction process, we’ll be delivering daily updates and fun facts about the project.  Today, we go under the boardwalk to see what’s lurking.

According to Sidd & Associates, the boardwalk will be “Made In America”, or at least as much as logistically possible.    The company has set a high goal when it comes to ensuring all components used are made in the United States.

Ocean Signal Media: Boardwalk Renderings &emdash; “Almost everything on this boardwalk is produced or manufactured in the United States. We are still ordering material but we’re shooting for 99%,” the company said in an email this weekend.

Hussain Burhanpurwala explained some of the detail on the process of building the boardwalk after the first piles were in the ground on February 15th.   You might notice the piles are all different length.  They are sunk into the sand and excess is left at the top.   Burhanpurwala said that the tops will be cut down evenly to the required height so the joists and decking will be level.

We have included two design images provided to us by Sidd and Associates to demonstrate what things will look like, under the boardwalk.
