Pancake Breakfast This Saturday to Assist Local Military Families
The following information was issued by the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
TOMS RIVER – Already prepared with 15 five-gallon pails of pancake batter, the members of Lions Clubs International will host a pancake breakfast for military service families and the general public from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., March 9.
The event will help the New Jersey Family Assistance Centers, which help to provide support and assistance to service members and their families.
“We encourage our service members, their families and our citizens to attend this event,” said Ocean County Freeholder Gerry P. Little, who serves as liaison to the Ocean County Veterans Service Bureau. “Ocean County supports the work of the New Jersey Family Assistance Center and the help it provides to our military families. These are the families of the men and women who continue to protect our liberties at home and abroad.”
The Toms River Lions Clubs International will team up with American Recreational Military Services or A.R.M.S. in sponsoring the breakfast at the Toms River Armory, 1200 Whitesville Road, here.
The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children aged 5 to 11. Children under five attend for free.
There will also be a raffle with prizes including a flat screen television, and a basket from the Lakewood Blue Claws.
According to Don Bray of the Toms River Lions Club, ARMS has been working since 2003 to provide services to local armories throughout the region.
“From helping with holiday gifts to serving meals to the troops and their families, this charitable organization works to make a difference every day in the lives of our military personnel and their families,” Bray said. “It is a privilege to work with them on this event.”
