Manchester Police Chief Brian Klimakowski said at around 6:15 pm, the car being driven by Simms crossed into the opposing lane of a back ford pickup truck travelling northbound, driven by Stanley Lellig, 46, of Howell. Lellig was treated at Kimball Medical Center for non life threatening injuries.
The teens, according to Klimakowski, were not wearing their seat belts.
There are no charges filed against Mr. Lellig at this time.
The cause of the crash is undetermined and still under investigation by members of the Traffic Safety Bureau and Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
Assisting at the scene were the Manchester Township and Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Departments, Paramedics from MONOC, Quality Medical Transport, Manchester Volunteer First Aid Squad, Ocean County Prosecutors Office, the Ocean County Criminalistics Investigation Unit, the Ocean County Road Department, and the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office. The crash is under investigation by Patrolman Antonio Ellis and Patrolman Ian Bole from the Manchester Township Traffic Safety Bureau.
