TOMS RIVER–Toms River Police Traffic Safety Officer Robert Westfall is investigating a fatal accident that occurred at 1:30 p.m. on Route 37 just west of Saint Catherine Blvd.
Gary Miller, 58, of Toms River was operating 1989 Chevy van eastbound in the center lane when his vehicle struck a Ford Explorer operated by Catherine Davis, 40, from Lacey Township.
Davis vehicle then struck a Honda CR-V operated by Shirley Good, 75, from Manchester.
The Chevy van then left the roadway and struck some shrubbery.
Davis, Good and Good’s passenger Jimmy Crouch, 82, of Manchester were transported to Community Medical Center where they were treated and released.
Carl Johnson, 48, from Berkeley Township, a passenger in Mr. Millers van was also taken to Community Medical center with a leg injury.
The Ocean County Prosecutors Office and Sheriff’s Department are also investigating this accident.
Mr. Miller was flown to Jersey Shore Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. This is the second fatal in the Township this year.
On Tuesday, Toms River Traffic Safety Officer Robert Westfall continued the investigation along with the Ocean County Prosecutors Office and the Ocean County Sheriff’s department.
Mr. Johnson, it was announced also died from his injuries at Community Medical Center.
