TOMS RIVER-A 19 year old Jackson woman was assaulted today while trying to retrieve her belongings from the home of Rozal Foster, 20, of Toms River, identified as the woman’s ex-boyfriend.
The incident happened at 10:30 am on Tuesday. Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said Foster assaulted the woman with a rake and a trophy.
Mastronardy said an investigation conducted by his department found Foster became violent and chased the woman back to her 44 year old mother’s car and began striking the car with a metal gym bar.
Foster, according to police, then dragged the woman approximately fifteen feet and struck her with a trophy and rake breaking both weapons by striking her body.
As the incident unfolded, a 52 year old female jogger passed by the ongoing assault and began to yell at Foster. He then proceeded to swing at the jogger. He missed hitting the jogger then fled on foot .
The good samaritan was not injured but the other victims were transported to Kimball Medical Center for numerous injuries according to Mastronardy.
“Foster was later arrested in his residence hiding in a bedroom closet under some clothes,” the chief said. ” He has been charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and criminal mischief and is being held on $100,000 bail no 10%. ”
Foster was also held on outstanding warrants $500 from Pemberton and $7,500 from Jackson Township..
